Founded in 1987 by Noel S. Ruiz and a group of passionate individuals, CM Performing Arts Center began its journey in a small space in nearby Bohemia before officially becoming a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 1988. After years of fundraising and hard work, the theater found its permanent home in an abandoned movie theater in Oakdale, NY which it renovated with a cast largely made up of volunteer. Since then, it has blossomed into a thriving center for arts, education, and culture.

Today, the theater offers Broadway-quality productions and serves as a venue for live theater, music, and comedy. Despite relying on ticket revenue for only 45% of its income, the organization continues to thrive thanks to the unwavering support of its community, including volunteers, donors, and patrons.

The CM Performing Arts Center depends on the generosity of supporters to provide opportunities for local actors, musicians, designers, and crew—many of whom volunteer their time and talent. Jodi Jacobs, Chief Visionary of Crystal Vision Marketing, shared her enthusiasm for the partnership: “I raised my kids in Oakdale and have watched this little theater grow into a cultural gem, offering Broadway-level performances right in our backyard.
